SENATOR WATSON HONORED FOR EXCELLENCE IN THE GAME OF LIFE

WHAT:           Caritas will honor a visionary leader who has a played a powerful role in building Austin and enriching the lives of so many--Texas State Senator Kirk Watson.
For the past 15 years, Caritas of Austin has selected an outstanding community leader to honor with the Harvey Penick Award for Excellence in the Game of Life. The award is given to an honoree whose life emulates that of the first recipient, golf legend Harvey Penick.

The evening’s event promises to be a night filled with laughs and genuine praise as Senator Watson’s closest friends and supporters will all gather to honor and roast the man who has impacted the lives of many Texans.

In addition to his present political role, Watson is also a partner with local Austin law firm, Hughes and Luce. His notable career past includes: lawyer, mediator, public affairs consultant and former Austin Mayor. His philanthropic endeavors include serving on several boards of local social service organizations and leading the crusade to a better Texas. His humanitarian work and admirable leadership style made Senator Watson an excellent choice for Caritas.

WHEN:           Tuesday, October 23rd, with reception at 6:00 p.m. and dinner at 7:00p.m.

WHERE:        Four Seasons Hotel, 98 San Jacinto Blvd.

WHO:             Special guest speakers John Sharp, Liz Watson; and emcee Roy Q. Minton, will be on hand to playfully roast the man who has impacted the lives of many Texans. There will also be a special performance by The Bar & Grill Singers. Business and community leaders will also be in attendance.

WHY:              Since 1964, Caritas has assisted with emergency basic needs such as food, rent and utilities and helped clients learn the skills they need to gain self-sufficiency. This year, Caritas will serve over 20,000 adults and children as Travis County’s largest source of non-governmental assistance for low-income families.
