A FINE DINING EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS
NEEDY FAMILIES

Majic 95.5 Hosts Restaurant Week
Benefiting Caritas of Austin

(Austin, TX) – Austin’s best restaurants will offer fine dining at a discount to help fight hunger and poverty during Majic 95.5 Restaurant Week, July 25 to July 31, 2005.

Restaurant Week benefits Caritas, and for every three-course dinner purchased for $25, five dollars will go to the nonprofit.

KKMJ-FM/Majic 95.5, owned by Infinity Broadcasting, is premiering the event in Austin.

“Majic 95.5 is excited in its part of bringing great restaurants in Austin together for a cause that needs more awareness,” said Stephanie Freed-Whitaker, account executive at KKMJ-FM. “Restaurant Week brings together great meals at a great price and also gives restaurants an opportunity to build business during a traditionally slow week. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved. We look forward to seeing this grow into an event that Austin looks forward to every year.”

“The people of Austin are extremely generous, and this is a wonderful way to help families in our community,” said Julia Spann, executive director of Caritas. “Everyday, Caritas turns away requests for assistance because the demand for help is much greater than the assistance we can provide. An event like this enables us to continue helping others.”

Kolar Advertising & Marketing is providing the creative design for the event. "We applaud how Caritas has provided compassionate care and strategies for future self reliance to Austin’s most needy citizens for over 41 years,” said Bryan Christian, general manager of Kolar Advertising & Marketing and a member of Caritas’ Community Advisory Board. “Events like this offer an easy and fun way to give back to an organization that has given so much to this community. We're excited to be a part of it."

Since 1964, Caritas has assisted with basic needs such as food, rent and utilities and helped clients learn the skills they need to gain self-reliance. Demand for food services at Caritas has skyrocketed, and this year, the Community Kitchen will serve over 93,000 meals. Caritas is Travis County’s largest source of non-governmental assistance. “Caritas” is from the Latin word for love, and in this spirit, anyone with a legitimate need is eligible to receive help.
