CARITAS OF AUSTIN HIRES
NEW SELF-SUFFICIENCY DIRECTOR

(Austin, TX) – Caritas of Austin is pleased to announce that Jo Kathryn Quinn has been named the agency’s new Self-Sufficiency Services Director. In this position, Quinn will oversee Caritas’ long-term case management programs that focus on helping clients gain economic self-sufficiency.

Before working at Caritas, Quinn was program director at Court Appointed Special Advocates of Travis County from 2000 to 2005 where she supervised a staff of 20. She was also development director at the Austin Children’s Shelter from 1998 to 2000.

Quinn currently serves as president of the Texas Homeless Network and is a member of the Homeless Taskforce, a local branch of the Texas Homeless Network. She was executive director of Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry, a basic needs agency in Victoria, TX, and chair of the Homeless Commission in Victoria.

“Jo Kathryn’s [Quinn’s] combination of leadership, passion, community and program oversight skills is the perfect match for our Self-Sufficiency Services department,” said Julia Spann, executive director of Caritas. “We are extremely lucky to have her, and she brings an enormous wealth of expertise and knowledge.”

Quinn began at Caritas on May 23, 2005.

Quinn received a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana Tech University and a Masters in Divinity from Southwestern Seminary.

Quinn currently resides in Wimberley, TX with her husband Eric and her son Clinton, 9, a student at Bowen Intermediate School. She enjoys hiking, reading and attending live music events in her spare time.

About Caritas of Austin:
For 41 years, Caritas has operated a community kitchen and food pantry and assisted with emergency rent and utilities. Each year more than 15,000 adults and children in Travis County receive assistance with the most basic of needs such as shelter, utilities and food.

Caritas is Travis County’s largest non-governmental source of assistance and an integral part of our community’s human services network. “Caritas” is from the Latin word for love, and in this spirit, anyone with a legitimate need is eligible to receive help.
