CARITAS OF AUSTIN NAMES
NEW DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

(Austin, TX) – Caritas of Austin is pleased to announce Carol Thomas as the nonprofit agency’s new director of development and community relations. In this position, Thomas will oversee the agency’s annual fundraising, major gifts campaign and community relations.

Thomas brings to Caritas over 20 years of nonprofit development and major gifts fundraising experience.

Before joining Caritas, Thomas was director of development at The Children’s Initiative in San Diego, CA. Thomas previously served as directors of development and annual giving at High Tech High Foundation, High Meadows School and Camp, The Atlanta Union Mission and Case Western Reserve University.

“We are delighted to welcome Carol (Thomas) as the newest member of Caritas’ leadership team,” said Beth Atherton, executive director of Caritas. “Not only does Carol bring a deep understanding of poverty issues, she brings a proven success record of outstanding development and fundraising experience. We are confident that she will be an extremely valuable addition to our team.”

“I am pleased to be a part of a solid organization that has been serving the Greater Austin community by fighting poverty, hunger and homelessness since 1964,” said Thomas.

Thomas received a bachelor of arts degree from Antioch College and a master’s degree in not-for-profit management from Case Western Reserve University.

This year, Caritas will serve over 20,000 adults and children.
