Leading Semiconductor Company to Help Social Services Agency Feed Needy During May
(Austin, TX) – Applied Materials was announced as Caritas of Austin’s Community Kitchen Sponsor for the month of May. The semiconductor company’s donation will help serve over 450 meals a day to needy Central Texans at the 41 year-old social services agency.
Caritas’ Community Kitchen served over 90,000 meals last year, an increase in demand of 5,500 meals from last year. The Community Kitchen serves hot, nutritious meals, five days a week. The sponsorship will be used to purchase food items and to maintain operating costs for the kitchen, which relies heavily on donated goods and volunteers to prepare and serve the meals.
“We are grateful and extremely lucky to have Applied Materials support a crucial part of our agency,” said Caritas executive director Julia Spann. “This sponsorship impacts people in a real and tangible way by providing them with meals that they may not otherwise be able to afford. We are thrilled and honored to have Applied Materials as our Kitchen Sponsor.”
