2013 ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot benefiting Caritas of Austin
On December 10, 2013, ThunderCloud Subs presented $325,000 to Caritas of Austin. This check represents 100% of the proceeds from Texas' largest 5-mile race, and brings ThunderCloud Subs' cumulative donation to more than $2.1 million. Despite this year's cold weather on Thanksgiving morning, nearly 20,000 participants came out for Austin's favorite Thanksgiving Day tradition.
"We are honored to receive the continued support of the Austin community for our event and for Caritas of Austin," says Mike Haggerty, co-owner of ThunderCloud Subs. "Every year we work to make this Thanksgiving tradition more successful than the last, and we couldn't make a difference in the lives of people in need without our pariticipants and volunteers."
“Caritas of Austin is incredibly grateful for the continued support of ThunderCloud Subs for the past 23 years," said Jo Kathryn Quinn, Caritas of Austin Executive Director. "The money raised at the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot each year is critical to Caritas’ work helping thousands of individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency. This year’s event proceeds are enough to move 20 chronically homeless individuals off the streets and into permanent housing with support services for an entire year. This is just one example of the positive, tangible impact ThunderCloud Subs’ support has on the entire Austin community.”
Thank you to all who participated, volunteered, or purchased raffle tickets for the 2013 ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot. Your support is helping thousands achieve self-sufficiency through Caritas of Austin services.
