Basic Needs Coalition
The Basic Needs Coalition of Central Texas is a grass-roots
collaboration of 30 public and private human service providers that began in
January 2001 when the executive directors of several nonprofit organizations met to
explore collaborations that would address the barriers clients face when seeking
basic needs services. The Basic Needs Coalition is comprised of nonprofit organizations,
local governmental agencies, faith-based organizations and community advocates.
The Basic Needs Coalition developed the Best Single Source Project,
a system improvement model for the distribution of emergency financial
assistance, and is in the process of implementing a project system that includes
a shared client database, central referral system and centralized financial aid
for families.
Caritas is the fiscal agent for the Basic Needs Coalition.
